SHE DID THAT SHIT
SWEET YEEZUS.
wait — wha — we’re okay with this? Why are we okay with this? That girl is ten years old and our culture is already turning her into a sex object. She hasn’t even hit puberty for god’s sake! I mean, seriously, no one is going to comment on the cultural forces at work here and how disconcerting it is to watch a ten year old girl perform that routine in that outfit?
Nobody was making her into a sex object. The only thing anyone was making her was the biggest gold medal ever created for being the most talented young dancer since Michael Jackson. The fact is, the kid is a killer dancer. What she chooses to wear is her own deal. It’s no more revealing than a bathing suit. Anyone who sees this outfit, or any outfit, on young girl as being sexual is the one with the issue. The outfit isn’t the one objectifying her. Her clothes aren’t the problem here. They aren’t sexual, and neither is she. But people are forcing sexuality on her and her choice of clothes, and that’s where everything goes sour. Because by saying her dance or her clothes are sexual, you’ve just placed sexuality on an innocent child.
Her clothes, her dance, and even her song of choice are all statements of girl power. Being pretty, doing what you want, wearing what you want, and not giving two glitter glam bedazzled shits what anyone else thinks about it. Some girls find power in looking pretty, and pretty to them might be a badass jacket, some bad ass short, badass boots, and a bad ass dance routine. Girls looking good and feeling good about themselves has absolutely nothing to do with anyone else, let alone sex.
Don’t be upset with the people who applaud this young lady for rocking it out, instead, you should be shaming people who THINK these sorts of things are sexual. Because those are the ones who need a scolding.

An average day in North Carolina2:40 p.m.; It’s nice and sunny outside, some birds are singing.
2:41 p.m.; SUDDENLY HARD RAIN AND CRACKS OF THUNDER!!!
2:42 p.m.; Birds singing again as the day goes on like nothing happened.
